What is an eBook? For many people who aren’t pc specialists they can be a confusing subject. What makes an eBook an eBook and not simply a book?

In this article I’m going to address one aspect of eBooks — their physical presence.

So do eBooks have a physical presence anywhere?

The short answer is no. They’re digital. They don’t exist except in cyberspace somewhere. However, the long answer — as this must be — isn’t quite as clearly yes or no. More a case of maybe.

You see eBooks are by nature digital. They are an electronic representation of letters stored on an electronic media. It could even be saved on a CD or DVD. Or on a reminiscence stick. And it nearly actually exists on a tough drive somewhere. That CD, DVD, reminiscence stick or arduous drive has a bodily presence.
